Oh childhood....

So as I read about the software and games that are beneficial for children, I wish I could go back to my childhood! I loved playing Oregon Trail and Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego! Before that I definately was an Arthur fan and loved to use those games to practice my reading! Then I think about now and how much I'm tired of homework, school, and the stresses of life, and wish that I could be the care-free child I was about 15 years ago!

Stupid doctors....

Well, the frustrations of the day began about 2:15 when I was called into the training room by our trainer, Michael, for something "very important." So I hobble on in there with my lovely boot, and he tells me my doctor called. For future cases...if a doctor calls a week later after you've hurt yourself, it's probably bad news, and you should run away (or hobble) as quick as you can! Michael tells me that the doctor got the official results of my bone scan. At this I think, what?! He saw my bone scan LAST THURSDAY when he told me I had a stress fracture in my foot. So apparently that was a lie and he put me in a boot for "safety" I'm guessing. So he continues on that they looked at it and my foot is not a stress fracture, but a full break all the way through. Yeah...how can you confuse those? I'm pretty sure they aren't very similar. So lets look at the technology aspect of this all....I had the bone scan, which is pretty sweet technology in itself. The shot me up with some stuff and it attracts to broken bones, and then when they scan, the VERY dark parts are where bones are broken. So I watched the scan as it was taken place and slowly my feet showed more clearly on the screen, and there were a few VERY dark spots. So they finish the scan, use some internet technology, and send it to my doctor who was in surgery at the time to look at. He reviews it, and gives me the wrong diagnosis. Sweet, thanks doc. So now I am still in the boot and I am offically back on crutches 24/7, no pressure on it what so ever. Why is this you ask...oh because of the fact that its a full break and its possible that I could step wrong and my bones could move and then I'd have to have surgery and my soccer career would FOREVER be over...aka my life would be over. So my conclusion on this....doctors are idiots and I don't think they can be trusted.

The frustration continues when I go to my doctors appt with a guy who is supposed to help my foot and speed up this healing process for me. I go, he pokes it a little bit. Asks what happened, and I tell him. Oh...and I tell him about the other day when I was stepping on it (w/o the boot) and it made the biggest POP and throbbed for 24 hours straight. And I told him my trainer said don't worry about it, and he looks at me and goes "If something pops and throbbs, that's never a good thing, and you should worry about it." I say thanks, thats what I thought. So some doctor is somewhat normal right. WRONG! I was there 20 minutes total. Enough time for him to poke my foot and hurt me, then tell me he wants me to ice my foot 3 times a day for 15 minutes, and that he wants me to get some calcium pills from him. Okay, I think yeah thats good...no its not because he wants me to pay $104 for a 1 month supply. WHAT?! are you kidding me?! On top of that, the 20 minute visit cost me $48. Rip off! My conclusion here is that all doctors are out to take your money.

My total conclusion....as good as technology is these days, because they got the scan back right away, if you can't read it then technology does you no good. So...I've decided that as of this injury, its the LAST one I will go to the doctor for. FORGET DOCTORS!!!!....I'll just take care of myself! I'm officially done throwing my money away to people who have NO idea what they are talking about, and who don't care about anything but money. From now on, I will be self-diagnosing myself with any injuries or illnesses!!! I think I can do just as well, if not better!!

(This totally can fit into technology, which I somewhat touched on it, that if you can't use it correctly, and don't know how to work it, then it does you no good. It will not benefit you, or anyone else.)

Update!

Here is the update on my situation:
1- NO MORE CRUTCHES!!!! Woohoo!!! Celebration time! Really though, I hated them and now (as long as I can walk with the boot without pain) I don't have to use them!

2- I can work out!!! I am now allowed to get on the elliptical and ride the bike! So these 5 days I've taken off...thats it! No more! I'm going to get back in shape so that when I come back (in 4 weeks for tournament) I can play and be of help to my team!!!!

3- Doctors are idiots! I seem to come to that conclusion over and over again, and today it hit me again. My doctor doesn't want to do knee surgery now, why I can't do anything. He thinks another surgery could be bad for me. Well...my knee hurting now and playing with it torn can't be good can it? Pretty sure that can hurt me in the long run. He doesn't want to do another surgery...but he wants to give me meds to "get me through the season" if I come back. Hm..getting me through the season would imply that he wants to do surgery afterwards...but no. And I'm pretty sure I know my knee better than him. Why can't he cut the bad stuff out and let me go on my merry little way? Oh well....I'm pretty sure I've seen it enough times that I could cut my knee open and do it myself....maybe I'll just do that!

Technology Freak

Well...I'm required now to post about technology, so I guess I will. Need my points right?! Well...I LOVE technology! Any new gadget, I always want it, and usually I end up getting it. It can be from a new computer, or new camera, to a hand held, or ipod. Whatever it is, I always love it! My family is very much into technology, and this comes from my dad. He loves new gadgets to. My brother and I have had hand held computers since at least my freshman year of high school. Then when my parents get upgrades, we get their old ones (that usually end up only being a year old, if that). Like I've posted in the discussion board before, my dad has a hand held Zire for each student in his class. This has worked out amazing for him, and I hope that I can do that when I get my own classroom. Being the technology freak I am, I will use it in my classroom every chance I get!

Confirmed....

Well, my foot is broken. I hate it so much. So...I'm in a boot PLUS I have to use crutches still for 6 weeks, yes....SIX weeks. I plan on making it 4 and being back by then, because that will be the start of the conference tournament. We will see though. I have high hopes, and when I set my mind to something, it will happen! (For example my roomie Jess explained it as "If Kelli Linson wants to find Nemo, then she will!!) So hopefully I will be back by then. Until then, I'll be crutching around with the heavy boot, hating that I cant play and I have to watch instead.

Life over....

So soccer is my life right? Yeah...it is. Well, I apparently hurt my foot in our game last Friday against Saint Xavier. I let it go, thought maybe it was just a bruise. So I practiced monday, and even played about 60 minutes in the game yesterday (in which we killed Marion 4-1!!!!). Coach would not allow me to play anymore than that. Well...the foot has died as of last night. So today I go see Dr. D at FWO and he says oh I think you broke it. WHOA...talk about my world crashing down. We have the biggest game Friday against our rivals IWU. I have been pumped for this game for weeks now! Now I may not even be able to play. Not only does he give me that news he also says, use crutches until I tell you otherwise...and I HATE crutches with a passion and don't do well with using them. So I have a bone scan tomorrow to find out for sure, and we will have to see from there. I still have hopes of playing on Friday, that maybe it's just hurt but not broken and it will be fixed by Friday. Coach did tell me today when i left his office "Prepare yourself for the worst". To this I wanted to kick something and say some inappropriate words. I did not, but I definately wanted to. So now I wait, and I pray that this isn't broken and it gets better by Friday so that I can play. We shall see....

8 Games

Wow...today is GAME DAY and its the first day of conference games. This is extremely exciting, but freaking me out at the same time! We have 8 regular season games left. That's it. Then it's tournament time and it's one loss and we are done. I am not ready for this season to be over, I've enjoyed it too much! Yeah sure, we've had our ups and downs, but doesn't every team? I don't want to stop playing, soccer is my life and to take long breaks, it just doesn't excite me. It also doesn't excite me that my best friends are all seniors. So not only are they done with the team after this is all over, they are more than likely moving away from me after this year as well. Lots of downsides. But for now, I will look up and we will kick Marion's butt into the ground today! We will show them that they should have never come to play us, and that we are here to win!
5:00 on the grass field this afternoon!!! Be there...paint your chests, make shirts, signs, and scream your heads off! :) We love the fans and appreciate you being there, we just wish there were more of you! GO LADY COUGS!

If Only....

Right now, it's been a really long week. I've been very busy with school, soccer, and life in general. I've had a lot on my mind these days, and every night I've only had about 5 hours of sleep, if that. What kind of a life is this you ask....it's the life of a college student and athlete. And to be honest, I'm over it. Let me get to the real world. However, I can't go to the real world, and right now there is only one place I want to be. Is it my bed? No...as tired as I am, it is not. Is it on vacation? No...as much as I need one, it is not. Is it on a beach? Well maybe, but plans never seem to work out in my favor for that one, and my friend always stands me up!! But really, the one place I want to be is at Camp Lakewood. The people there are wonderful for my life, and it's just an awesome week completely devoted to God and helping children grades 3-6 begin, or continue on their walk with Christ. I miss the counselors so much, and the staff too. And my campers are wonderful! That is my one week that everything just goes away. I have nothing to focus on but the kids and God. So right now if I could be anywhere...I'd choose to be there....the following will explain why....

Reason 1: CAMPERS! This is Tamarack Cabin August 2007! I'm always in Tamarack...just special like that, but the kids are by far the best part of camp!

Reason 2: The other counselors! This is Liz my best buddy at camp! The counselors help make camp worth-while. I just wish I could see them all more than 1 week a year!

Reasons 3 & 4: The Staff, and THE BLOB!!!!!!!! Staff is wonderful and I love them! They are great people and they do great things! THE BLOB is the most fun activity to do at camp!!!!!

Reason 5: Swim Time! The kids love to pick on me, splash me, tackle me into the water, and basically see who can hurt me the quickest!

Reason 6: Face painting and other fun activities where campers get out of control! And of course they get to go crazy on the counselors too!

Reasons 7 & 8: 7-Campers stealing your camera and taking pictures randomly of anything and everything, and getting to look back and laugh at the pictures you never knew they took. 8-Most important, and definately the best.....God! He is there with us all week, and you can feel it the whole time! Then teaching the campers about Him and how awesome He truely is....there is nothing that even comes close to how wonderful that is!!!!

So all in all...I wish I could be at Camp Lakewood! But for now...until the first week of August next year....I'll just stick to living my life as it is!!!!

whats to come....

Well...these next few days seem to be good ones for me...I am pretty excited for them to be honest! Friday....we leave at 10:00am for a game in Chicago against the #5 ranked team...who is totally over-rated. We'll see. I think we can show well against them, and I am extremely excited and hope that we run them into the ground and pull off a big win. We are not expected to win, they probably even think we won't be very good...but we'll show them! I can't wait! Saturday there is a reserve game so I will be there to support those girls! Then I will go shopping, and I love to shop so it'll be fun! Then, I am sure that there will be some definate quality DDR time in there as well! Which I of course LOVE! Sunday is my church day, there is a boys soccer game, and I plan to hang out with some friends in the evening! A nice little weekend I have planned, jam packed with great things that I am excited for! First things first though....we win the game tomorrow!!!!!!

The Internet

Oh the internet....I don't even know where to begin! So I'll just say, as much as I love it, it creeps me out! If someone wants to stalk me, its not going to be that hard. They can find out I play soccer at Saint Francis, find out where exactly that is, and find out my number and our game schedule. So, there could be some creepy 80 year old man that wants to know about me, well all he has to do is Google my name, and he could be at our game tomorrow! That to me is not cool! All bad, creepy things aside, the internet is a wonderful tool and I'd spend a lot more time frustrated with people if I didn't have it. So as bad as it is, I like it and I don't ever want it to go away!

Speaking of not wanting things to go away, I have a new game that I LOVE and I will play it everyday for the rest of my life (okay probably not...but it'd be cool if I really did!). I got Dance Dance Revolution (also known as DDR) yesterday! And I love it! It's totally wonderful for my life and my roomies and I have enjoyed it so far! I am sure that we'll have a DDR party for at least my soccer team soon because everyone thinks they can beat me....I assure you, that will not happen!!

Anyway, I love the internet, but I'm totally over creepy stalker people! Even if they aren't stalking me, which I am sure they arent and I am thankful for that, we all know they are out there stalking someone. And to that person they stalk, I feel extremely sorry for them!

My b-day present

This is my brother, and I want to showcase his talents for a second. So he's one of the most incredible people to me. He's one of my best friends and I love him dearly. Okay, all the sappy sister stuff aside...he's just a really cool guy. Anyone who has met him will agree to that. He's super talented, an amazing soccer player, easy to get along with, fun, out going, very intelligent, loves reading, and has a very deep side to him if you actually sit down and have a real conversation with him. Anyway, he made me one of the coolest birthday presents this year for my 21st birthday. So as I said, he's talented, so he painted me a picture!!! It's amazingly well done and it sits in the window by my computer. I have yet to buy a frame, but he has requested me to get a large gold frame to put it in...I refuse! He has this idea to paint one picture a week, well it's been over a month and I don't think another one has been completed yet, possibly not even started. But it's a good idea, and when he decides he wants to do it, he will and it will be as awesome as mine is I am sure. Anyway....here is a picture of it, it doesn't do it justice, but I wanted to show his talent off to everyone!!!

The week ahead....

Well....as exciting as my last post was and how pumped I was for it being the weekend, today is monday and I'm totally over this week already! I have an unbelievable amount of homework to do in the next 2 days! I also have 2 games this week (Wednesday and Friday), which just adds to the list of things to do. As upset as I am for this week, looking back on the weekend makes me smile......
We had a game Saturday and we tied 2-2 in double overtime! Crazy right!? Yeah it is, seeing that we came back from being down 2-0. Coach has a new line up he's going to try this week, so we'll see how that goes. I'm kind of excited about it, and I hope that it fixes the minor problems we've been having. Sunday was a GREAT day! I went to church and saw my friends Natalie and Tyler! Then I came back and took a nap! Naps are my favorite thing ever! After that I went and supported the men's soccer team to a 2-2 tied that also went into double overtime. How strange! Then I came back, took care of Gloria because she needed a few things bought, and avoided homework more by doing some extra shopping. After that, the roomies and I decided to cook a huge dinner together, and this was our first ever family meal! Then we chatted and I finally got to do some homework about 10:30.

The more I blog, the more I realize it's benefits. Its like a replacement facebook! I've gotten used to having facebook since coach took it away from us, but I must admit there are days when I do miss it. So this is my new one! Anyway, I am going to get on my hours upon hours of homework now! Woohoo! not really though!! I hope that everyone has a great and wonderful week!

Happy Friday

I love fridays! They are so relaxing! We had practice today to get us ready for our game tomorrow! An easy practice, but it was a pretty good one! I feel like we were all out of it though, so hopefully we got it out of our systems today so we will be fine for tomorrow! Slightly nervous for the game, but I always get that way. I once had a coach tell me "The day that you don't get nervous before a game, I would question if you still love the game or not." For me, thats been true. Every game I've ever played (which is wayyyy too many to count) I've always been nervous for. I remember him telling me that every game day, and I always know that I'm meant to be out there because I love the game, and it's a huge part of my life!

Anyway, did my postings and everything. I hope that I got it all done. My first few assignments were not done on time because I didn't read my e-mail. Oops! But hey, I think I'm good to go for this week! So that is always good! I'll get this online stuff down soon enough I'm sure! Hope everyone has a GREAT weekend, be safe! This is from Camp Lakewood. It's a church camp I volunteer at 1 week a summer. Its by far my favorite week of the entire year, and something I look forward to that is at the end of every summer! This was taken middle of the week at breakfast by one of my campers who stole my camera and I was loving the coffee because I was very tired and it was much needed this day!

This is my baby chinchilla, Gloria. I got her on my 21st birthday this summer! She is beautiful and wonderful as well! Not only do I love her so much, she will be a great classroom pet for me!

This last pictures is of two of my very good friends. This was a day we actually had off of soccer. The three of us decided to have a date night. So...we got dressed up in sweats, did side braids, and wore thick head bands. We then drove out North to eat at Penn Station off of Dupont Road, then suprised Jess with a visit to Leo-Cedarville Park (where this photo was taken), and then drove out to the Scoop to eat some ice cream! It turned out to be a great date!

Okay, so it's 10:30 am, I am awake, but bored out of my mind! So I have explored the sight, and decided that I want to add some pictures to this little blog of mine to spice it up a bit! First, I love taking pictures and I almost always have my camera with me anywhere I go. Over the summer I got a new camera, and it's the Olympus camera that is freeze-proof, shock-proof (up to 5 feet), crush-proof (up to 220 lbs)...and the best feature of all....it's WATERPROOF (up to 32 feet or some random number like that)!!! It is my favorite thing ever, and basically it means that nothing can stop me from taking a picture! I have taken it underwater, and it works amazing well and the pictures are very clear! It's probably my favorite thing that I own! So...onto some of my favorite people, and one of my favorite places....!

Right here are two of my very favorite people in life! My brother, who is one of my best friends ever, and Peyton Manning after he won the superbowl for my Colts! :) We have been born and raised Colts fans, so don't think we just jumped on when they were playing well...we've supported them through all of the bad years! (Oh...and I LOVE photoshop...so I edited this photo just to make it a little more fun!)

This picture is from my trip to Israel that I took in December of 2006. I was there for 11 days, and it was an awesome, and life changing trip for me. This was when our group went and got baptized in the Jordan River. (My pastor, Tyler, is the one on the right, I'm so glad he was there with me in this moment) Talk about an emotional experience...I can't even put into words how incredible it was. I think that if anyone gets the chance to go, you definately should!

These two lovely ladies with me are my roommates, Megan and Jessica! We just moved into a beautiful house together in August, and it's been fun times so far! They are wonderful for my life and I cherish them dearly!

This is Natalie. She is one of my best friends, and a huge inspiration to me! She started out as my youth pastor's (Tyler) wife, then we became friends, and now Tyler is the pastor at LaOtto Wesleyan Church, and I attend there. They are both wonderful people and I love them both!

Your Lady Cougars Women's Soccer Team!!!! Need I say more? I think not....! (Except...come out and support us at our games!)

This is my wonderful family! I love them all! My parents were my inspiration to become a teacher. My mother is a high school principal, while my father is a third grade teacher. I am very much like my dad, and we both act like 3rd graders. I hope that I can be as amazing of a teacher as he is when I get my own classroom!

Well, I think that is enough for now! I'll probably add more as time goes on, but we'll see! Just playing around with this thing to see how it goes and what fun stuff I can do!

Week 2

School is stressing me out! And I am worried that it will hurt my grades, mainly for this class. As of now, I seem to continue to put this class off. In the back of my head I know it needs done, but there is so much more work in my other classes that this gets pushed back. I will get my work done on time, but it may be last minute at times. I think I'll work on my time management skills and a better, and more effective, schedule for myself! Hopefully that will help!!!

I'm excited to watch the COLTS play tonight! First official game of the season and I can't wait! I've been born and raised a fan my entire life, and I love to watch every game! I've even subscribed to the text messages, so just in case I can't watch, I get the score at the end of every quarter! Hopefully they will play well and I can do a lot of yelling and jumping up and down!

Oh, and we have a soccer game this saturday! 4:00 on the turf, right after the football game! Come out and support your lady cougars, and bring your friends and family! :)
